On Friday, December 21, 2012, the Owen family was hit by a falling tree while driving on Stevens Pass. Tim and Cheryl were killed immediately, and Jessie, Jaime and Steven were critically injured. Jeremy was treated and released from the hospital. Jessie, Jaime and Steven were airlifted to Harborview where they spent time in the ICU and underwent several surgeries each. Jessie also spent an additional 2.5 months in inpatient rehab at Harborview. All three (Jessie, Jaime and Steven) have now been transferred to a skilled nursing facility to allow their bodies to heal before they will be transferred back to Harborview for more rehabilitation. Jeremy has returned to college at Eastern Washington University.

Thank you so much for sharing the progress. Each time I hear about another step forward for Jessie and her siblings, my heart sings “way to go!”
Renee

What do we know? God is faithful! We all send our love and want you to know we are praying 24/7. You all are amazing and the road ahead is paved with love, prayers, and hope! All things are possible through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. LG 1 Cor. 13:13…Love!
Thank you, Lord, for hearing this prayer and helping this family as they face the injuries that have happened. They trust in you and submit to your will, and I know that you will never forsake them. Please give them the strength and discipline to persevere through their treatments and recovery, and the wisdom to participate constructively in their own time for healing. Please guide the doctors in their care for this family, and please bless their friends and family as they support them through this challenge. I do not know any of the people involved. Just happened to come across their story from a mutual friend…..
Oh my dear wonderful Owen family! I have loved you for many years and will continue to love you forever. So many wonderful memories! Jamie as a tiny tot darting under pony bellies. Grand adventures with my kids orc-hunting at French Creek Stables. Getting Dexter for Christmas. Getting Dexterized! That second beautiful but quirky pinto pony. That traumatic Whidby Island event where he dumped BOTH of us! Then came the totally lovely Miss Marbles, who promptly pitched you over the arena fence! But you two worked it out. Jamie, you were such a part of our lives! Your whole family is beautiful and amazing and gracious and represents what is right and true in this crazy world. Just like Sump, whom your mom loved and called “The Multicultural Horse” just like your family, because he was a boy of many colors. Surely he was at the gates to greet Tim and Cheryl; maybe he even jumped the gates with them aboard. That would be fitting! When you are up to it, I and my family will come to visit. I have so many pictures of your first shows and horsey adventures, Jamie! I will dig them out. Love to all
of you; Jessie, Jamie, Steven, Jeremy. Love to you, Terry! Love to the rest of the family too! Denise Green and her family
Does anyone have an address at Harborview so I can send cards and pictures to them?
Thanks Denise. Jaime loves hearing your messages.
If you send cards/pictures to the relief fund address I’ll get them to her. Terry
Jessie, Your positive energy and physicality will get though these difficult times. We are all rooting for you at Garfield ES. Keep on fighting the fight! Barb Dubin, School social worker
Hi Jamie, it’s Sue Hagan, just want you to know you’re healing is in my thoughts and prayers everyday. I look forward to the day I hear you’re “back in the saddle again” ( Kate Hagan would be rolling her eyes at that comment). I read the Owen blogs everyday , what a wonderful support team you all have!!!!You all will continue to be at the top of my prayer list!
I would like to talk to someone who is a spokesperson for the family. I did not see the tree fall–we were about 12 vehicles back–but I saw what happened next. My husband sent a comment to the newspaper, and we were contacted by a lawyer who said she is gathering information. I would like to talk to whomever is actually handling the case.
Hi Claire,
Thank you for messaging us. A family representative (Michael Feldman) will be contacting you through your email address. Thank you!
Can you update us on current needs as far as gift cards for food, equipment, clothing, etc… ?
