Jaime and Steven continue to progress slowly on the CPM machine (which helps them bend their knees). They will both have a knee manipulation procedure done at Harborview on Wednesday, to help break up scar tissue and aid in the recovery process. They will likely stay at Harborview for a couple of days while they recover from the procedure. Steven has had some complications with a new hard boot that he received on Thursday, which was causing his foot to develop sores. His PT is working on a solution, and he will likely get a different type of boot sometime soon.
Jessie enjoyed a massage from a friend this weekend. She was also able to relax and watch a little t.v. for the first time since the accident. She chose cartoons on Netflix 🙂 As you can see in the pictures above, she is amazingly strong and it is pretty incredible that she is able to use her core strength to sit up at the side of the bed unassisted. Jaime is now able to do the same thing! We are so thankful for progress!
Last week Jessie did a phone interview with The Wenatchee World (newspaper). After the accident, all four of the kids were initially taken to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, so that is why the Wenatchee newspaper wanted to do a story on the family. You can read the story using this link: http://www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/2013/feb/07/a-crushing-blow-bothell-family-injured-by-falling/
Thank you, again, for the wonderfully generous gifts, cards and messages of love that many of you have sent to Jessie, Jaime, Jeremy and Steven. All four of them are constantly expressing how much these things mean to them as they recover both physically and emotionally from this tragedy. There is still a long road ahead, and I will continue to keep you updated on their progress. Much love to each of you!
